Takeshi Mitsumoto

b. 1962

Takeshi Mitsumoto was born in the Okayama Prefecture in Japan in 1962, and completed a postgraduate course in Art at Tokyo Gakugei University in 1987.  In 2002, he became a lecturer at Tokyo Kaseigakuin University.

A metal artist working in copper, brass, aluminium, iron and silver, Mitsumoto transforms these materials into large and flowing sculptural works. He has won numerous prizes in Japan, and has exhibited in London, Germany, New York and Australia. His work is included in international public collections such as the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
