Jennifer Lee featured in Ceramic Review

Jennifer Lee has been featured in the latest copy of Ceramic Review, issue 289 January/February 2018.

The article is about Jennifer Lee's residencies at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Centre in Japan, where she worked as a guest artist in 2014 and 2015. She plans to return in work in the autumn.

The residency opened major opportunities for Lee, such as a her first commercial solo show in Japan, as well as a museum acquisitions from the Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art, the Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art, Shigaraki and the Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo.

In 2016, Jennifer Lee had her second solo exhibition at Erskine, Hall & Coe. Here she displayed two flat wall pieces made in Shigarki. These ceramic works have streaks of oxide coloured clay like paint or ink running though them.

In her 2016 exhibition, Lee also displayed vessels using Japanese red clay. She first discovered this clay during her residency, and it has been a significant development for her work.

Jennifer Lee's last solo exhibition at Erskine, Hall & Coe can be viewed here.
