Ron Nagle
b. 1939
Ron Nagle was born in San Francisco in 1939. He was introduced to ceramics during the 1950s, and worked under Peter Voulkos during his studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
His work is inspired by such artists as Giorgio Morandi, Phillip Guston and George Herriman, and has been exhibited alongside Voulkos, Ken Price and other West Coast ceramic artists.
Nagle has had solo exhibitions at the San Diego Museum of Art, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, among other museums, and his work was also included in the 55th Venice Biennale.
