Ursula Mommens

1908 - 2010

Ursula Mommens, a great-granddaughter of Charles Darwin, was born in Cambridge and grew up in Downe, a small village in Kent.  She studied under William Staite Murray at the Royal College of Art, established her first pottery in Kent and later in London.  She then worked with Michael Cardew at Winchcombe Pottery and Wenford Bridge Pottery.

Mommens focused on making functional pots, mainly in stoneware and sometimes in porcelain.
