This piece was featured in the exhibition, Lucie Rie, Part II at Galerie Besson in 1992. The sgraffito lines are characteristic of Rie’s technique during this period, and similar examples are held in esteemed collections, such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The piece includes a glaze patch (viewable in the overhead shot on the left side), applied by the artist to cover a small firing split to the rim.
