David Leach, son of Bernard Leach, was born in 1911 in Tokyo, Japan.  A key figure in the development of studio pottery, he was an apprentice at the Leach Pottery in St. Ives, where he learned from his father. After working at the Leach Pottery, he opened his own pottery in Bovey Tracey in Devon in 1955. His work can be found in many public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Leach Pottery.
